The Little Food Festival 2021

Everyone’s favourite, the Little Food Festival is returning to Fed Square on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st of April 2022! In the meantime, we’ve prepared an online taste of the Little Food Festival right here for you, complete with a competition for you to win a few little items! Perfect to keep the kids occupied during school holidays, or a rainy weekend!

The STEM Leftover Lab Team

The STEM Leftover Lab team is made up of science education students from Monash University. We are all passionate about the communication of science and STEM concepts, and want to see the food system (and the world) become a better place!

Cynthia Nguyen

Cynthia is a pre-service general science teacher currently completing the Bachelor of Education – Primary and Secondary Education (Honours) at Monash University. She enjoys participating in many volunteer educational programs involving science and has a passion for more female students to pursue STEM careers. She is also a big foodie and advocates for healthy eating practices to her students.

Joshua Wilson-Douglas

Josh is a pre-service teacher currently studying his masters at Monash University. With a goal of being a science teacher, STEM education has been his passion from a young age. When out of the classroom, Josh likes photography, cooking, and volunteering with community groups. While studying, he works as a road safety ambassador with the Fit to Drive Foundation.

Yunkai Wang

Yunkai is an international student from Shanghai, China. She is currently completing her honours year in secondary education at Monash University after she completed her Bachelor's degree in Science. She is passionate about educating young people about sustainability and equipping them with the skills and knowledge to make informed decisions in the 21st century.

Jacob Solomonsz

Jacob is a pre-service teacher specialising in Psychology and Maths! His passion revolves around numbers (lame!) and getting a better understanding of people around him in order to spread more cultural awareness. He hopes to make the wider community more accepting and empathetic through cultural education!

Nanjuan (Athena) Xu

Nanjuan is a pre-service teacher currently completing her honours year at Monash University, specialising in Psychology and Mathematics. She enjoys working with children and enlightening young minds. She is passionate about all sciences and helping young children apply scientific knowledge in their daily life. She is also interested in innovative technologies and how they can expand learning opportunities.

Nga (Kylie) Hoang

Kylie is a pre-service teacher specialising in Psychology and English as an Additional Language. She is passionate about enabling language-minority students to excel in their different paths of life, and helping young people understand their impact on the environment.

Nuwanya Mendis

Nuwanya is a pre-service teacher currently studying a Master of Teaching specialising in Biology and General Science at Monash University. She is passionate about teaching and aims to create an interactive learning environment by developing effective interactions between her students. She loves to volunteer and be involved in community service projects.

Joel Rennison

Joel is a pre-service teacher specialising in Humanities and General Science. Prior to returning to study this year he was working as a Refrigeration Mechanic. He has a background in environmental science and is passionate about educating people on how to reduce their impact on the environment.

Natasha Litterick

Natasha is a pre-service teacher currently completing a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Secondary Education, specialising in English and Psychology. She is passionate about building students’ critical thinking skills as they engage in meaningful learning about the world and its many aspects. She is a big advocate for using creativity to promote change. She is also committed to eco-friendly practices and sustainability.

Simone Berger

Simone is a pre-service teacher currently completing her Masters of Teaching at Monash University, specialising in Biology and General Science. She is very passionate about science and wants to transfer this feeling to the children she works with and inspire more people to get involved with STEM!

Ping Hu

Ping is a pre-service teacher currently completing a Master of Teaching at Monash University, with a background in Science. She is passionate about making science and technology accessible and relevant to everyone. She currently works as a tutor and provides training for technology literacy to isolated members of the community.

Alex Crosbie

Alex is a pre-service teacher currently studying his Master of Teaching at Monash University, specialising in Biology and General Science. He has a background in biological research and is excited to share his passion for science with his students and to increase the scientific-literacy of the next generation.
